Y-3 "Yohji Yamamoto"

The Experince

My interest into Y-3 started earlier 2014 i knew about the brand Adidas and the designer Yohji Yamato but wanted to get into the designer and brand more. Back in the days Y-3 use to be not so popular in the market some use to look down at Y-3 and if you was wearing the brand you was a certain type which i won't go into. It all started for me when i first came encountered with the qasa's style shoes. I was very familiar with the design by Yohji Yamamoto but did not really pay much attention due to the price of the shoes. It was only till my visit in the Y-3 Store in London i came across the amazing store and straight away went to the shelf and had in my hand the Y-3 Qasa Low Racers. The way the staff dressed in all black with layering that as on point, the way the shop was layer out with merchandises etc, how everything was all black, extended clothing for layering and more it really did open my eyes for how to be unique and not dress as the norm for example in Reiss or Nigel Hall. Y-3 Qasa Low Racers in my hand from the shelf i tried on but no matter how comfortable they looked and amazing on feet they looked i couldn't justify the price at the time. So i put them back on shelf and continued my exploration around the store. I knew what i was looking for but i was not expecting to find it instore this was my first piece of layering and extended clothing all in one garment which was perfect to purchase. After my visit to London back in Manchester telling my frinds and how i was amazed by the store and when i came back from London i was telling everyone i knew about the store and Y-3 how big they are going to be etc. Some listened and few just wasn't to bothered from its past reputation.

The Look Out

Was all ways looking out for Y-3 and what was up and coming then when i watched there AW14 fashion show again the qasa's came back as a return but in a high top version this when i said to myself i have to get this shoe. Happily i did because i can not stress how great these shoes are from the qasa high racer lows and more. Further i did my research on Y-3 and got to know the brand more for example the "Y" stands for Yohji Yamato who is the designer and the number "3" represent the iconic three stripes of Adidas and together you have the brand nameY-3.  What i then started to realise was the design of the shoe and how eyeopening they was just like how i visited the store in London. From wearing Jordans and Nikes to start wearing Y-3 is a big
change especially the way how the shoes look as if you are some type of ninja.

Features & Fitting

This was the iconic look i really liked and wanted something different and unique to go with a new image and look i wanted to go and try out. Picture below shoes the Khaki green Y-3 Qasa High's. Only word to describe this shoe design is another level. Now i wished i bought the pair i picked in hand from the store but i was more than happy with the pair below.  The level of comfort of these shoes is hard to describe you have to try a pair on to understand. The best way to describe is they feel like slippers on your feet with the neoprene upper and soft cushioned soled and elasticated strap around the shoe gives you the great comfort and stability. After i got my first pair i knew this wasn't going to be the last so i had to get the Y-3 Qasa Low's from the same AW14 collection but in a blue colour way and Y- 3 Boost which the  boost sole technology is another comfort level.

The Future

Next i knew what was about to drop for SS15 but mean while the all black qasa high's released this was when a lot of people started to take interest in the shoes and the hype of Y3 grew to a point people really wanting the shoes especially the Qasa's style. I am not going to deny a little frustrating when you are telling people about Y-3  a year ago then now people jumping on the band wagon but i guess thats what they are designed for people to wear and have. SS15 collection was about to drop and they was four different styles that was about to release the most popular was the Qasa high but from the OG colour way they like to call it because if the success of the Qasa style. I thought to stay away from the hyped pair and go for something different. I first saw the designer for Fear Of God Jerry Laurenzo with a pair of Qasa Low 2's and it came to my attention how good they looked especially how he styled them with his collection. So i went to get myself a pair and again the look and feel of the shoe was great worked very well with many types of outfits. Right now i am saving them fort SS15 for a percific look i am going to go for in spring summer. Yohji Yamamoto i salute him as a designer and a visionary for his style of clothing and shoes he has bought to the fashion world and i am a very big fan of his work also is collection away from Adidas too self titled Yohji Yamamoto.
